Jacobs Engineering Group has secured new contracts from Ireland's National Transport Authority (NTA) to develop sustainable transportation options.

Under the new contract, Jacobs will continue to provide its transport modelling expertise for an additional three years to support the development of an integrated transportation system in the country.

In addition, the company has been awarded other contracts, where it will supportCork City and County Councils with the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy and offer transport planning services that include re-designing of the bus network within the Greater Dublin area.

Jacobs Buildings and Infrastructure senior vice-president Bob Duff said: “Jacobs has a long-standing relationship with the NTA in supporting Ireland’s sustainable transportation priorities.

"The delivery of a multi-modal modelling system of this scale and complexity is helping NTA appraise proposed transport programmes at both macro and micro levels."

"The delivery of a multi-modal modelling system of this scale and complexity is helping NTA appraise proposed transport programmes at both macro and micro levels and is a pre-requisite to creating effective transportation strategies."

Jacobs has been associated with NTA for the last four years to develop a new regional modelling system that includes five multi-modal transport models that serve all of Ireland.

The models are used by the authority to evaluate transport policies and plans that have a local or national impact.

NTA intends to make use of sustainable modes of transportation across Ireland in support of government policies and priorities.
