KLM to Launch a Direct Service from Amsterdam to Mumbai
TIN news: KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is launching a direct service to India’s largest city, Mumbai, effective 29 October 2017.
During the 2017-2018 winter season, KLM will operate three weekly flights to Mumbai, departing on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays. Passengers will travel aboard the latest addition to the KLM fleet, the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which has 30 World Business Class seats, 45 Economy Comfort seats and 219 Economy Class seats.
Pieter Elbers, KLM President and Chief Executive Officer, said:
“KLM’s network presence in India has grown enormously since we began our strategic cooperation with Jet Airways. The introduction of a direct service to Mumbai, the economic heart of India, means KLM can now offer its customers even better access to 48 destinations across India, as well as destinations elsewhere on the Indian subcontinent and in Asia”.The flight will depart from Amsterdam at 13:00 hours CET, arriving in Mumbai at 01.55 hours local time. The return flight will depart from Mumbai at 04:00 hours local time, arriving in Amsterdam at 08:45 hours CET.

Mumbai airport is the hub of KLM’s codeshare partner Jet Airways. This makes it easier for customers on KLM’s Mumbai service to book a wide range of connecting flights to all major cities and business centers in India, such as Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Chennai and Pune.
Direct connections between the Netherlands and India
Until Jet Airways moved its flights from Brussels to Amsterdam, from where it now operates daily services to Delhi and Mumbai, only KLM operated daily services between Amsterdam and Delhi.
Jet Airways has also recently announced that it will be commencing daily flights from Bangalore to Amsterdam.
“This latest addition will bring the total number of direct flights between the Netherlands and India next winter to 31 flights a week. This will be a great stimulus for ties between the two countries”, KLM President and CEO, Pieter Elbers added.
