Oman Air and Malaysia Airlines have initiated a codeshare partnership, effective July 31.

Oman Air passengers travelling to the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur will now be able to take advantage of the codeshare to 13 onward destinations in southeast Asia and Australasia.

Two further existing Oman Air destinations, Jakarta and Guangzhou, will also be connected through the arrangement.

In return, Malaysia Airlines passengers will have access to non-stop flights from Kuala Lumpur to Muscat, Oman Air’s hub.

The partnership will also pave the way for closer co-operation between the two airlines on several other joint initiatives, including collaboration on frequent flyer programmes, ground handling, customer support, cargo and airport lounge access, Oman Air said.

Oman Air now operates 14X-weekly flights between Muscat and Kuala Lumpur, utilizing Airbus A330-200s.
