Air Canada Boosts Vancouver-U.S. Connections With Three New Routes
Air Canada will open three new transborder routes from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) over May and June 2025, growing its summer season U.S. network from its western Canada hub to 21 destinations.
Air Canada will open three new transborder routes from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) over May and June 2025, growing its summer season U.S. network from its western Canada hub to 21 destinations.
The Montreal-based airline said that in combination with United Airlines, a fellow Star Alliance carrier and transborder joint-venture partner, 11% more seat capacity will be offered between YVR and the U.S. in summer 2025 compared to summer 2024.
The first of the new routes will commence May 1, 2025, when Air Canada starts flights between YVR and Nashville International Airport (BNA), Tennessee. The route, previously announced by BNA, will be served 4X-weekly on a seasonal basis between May 1 and Oct. 31, 2025. Air Canada is also significantly growing capacity on its BNA-Montreal Trudeau International Airport (YUL) service with plans to fly the route 2X-daily in summer 2025 compared to 4X-weekly in summer 2024.
From June 3, 2025, the airline will start 2X-weekly, year-round service between YVR and Tampa International Airport (TPA) in Florida. Vancouver will be the fifth Canadian city from which Air Canada operates to TPA. The airline flies year-round service from YUL and Toronto Pearson to the Florida airport, as well as operating winter seasonal flights from Halifax and Ottawa.
The YVR-TPA route will be flown with Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.
From June 4, 2025, Air Canada will launch seasonal service between YVR and Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), North Carolina. It will be the first time the two airports are connected nonstop. The YVR-RDU route will be flown 3X-weekly with a 737 MAX through Sept. 30, 2025. The airline and the airports are touting connections to Asia-Pacific cities through YVR.
Raleigh-Durham CEO Michael Landguth said Vancouver is “one of RDU’s top unserved international destinations and offers convenient connections to Asia” via Air Canada's transpacific gateway.
TPA added in a statement that YVR “offers convenient round-trip connections to Air Canada's Asian network, with connections to cities like Osaka, Tokyo and Seoul.”
The new routes give BNA, RDU and TPA passengers access to “growing international destinations across the Asia-Pacific region” via YVR, said Mark Galardo, Air Canada’s executive vice president for revenue and network planning.
Air Canada is also boosting capacity to three U.S. airports for summer 2025 versus summer 2024. Flights to Austin, Texas, will move from 3X-weekly to 5X-weekly. Service to Denver will be flown 2X-daily, with 21% more seats offered weekly versus summer 2024. Flights to Miami will increase from 3X-weekly to 4X-weekly.
Overall, Air Canada and United will combine to offer as many as 7,700 seats on up to 58 daily flights to the U.S. across 21 routes from YVR in summer 2025.
Air Canada’s most frequently flown routes from YVR next summer will be to Los Angeles and Seattle, both served 5X-daily. San Francisco and Portland, Oregon, will be served 4X-daily each.
