Avelo Airlines unveiled plans to open two new airport bases in North Carolina to complement its presence at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), where it has a crewmember base.

The carrier plans to base one Boeing 737NG at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA), which is located about 20 mi. from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, starting March 6. It will then add a second 737NG at USA in April 2025.

Avelo plans to launch two routes from Concord-Padgett in early April 2025, both to be operated 2X-weekly: Daytona Beach, Florida, starting April 3, and Nashville International Airport (BNA) in Tennessee, starting April 4.

Houston-based Avelo will initially station a 737NG at a new base at Wilmington International Airport (ILM) in North Carolina from April 3, with plans to add a second 737NG later in the year. The airline will open three routes from ILM on April 3 and 4 of next year: Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) in New Hampshire; Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) in New York; and BNA. The three ILM routes will each be flown 2X-weekly.

Avelo has had a crewmember base at RDU, where it employs around 100 staff, since February 2023.

Raleigh-Durham will see two 2X-weekly international routes opened by Avelo in February 2025: Montego Bay, Jamaica (Feb. 12) and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (Feb. 22).

Avelo CEO Andrew Levy said the airline will serve 27 routes from the three North Carolina airports combined once the new bases open in 2025.

The carrier will also add another two routes from BNA in 2025: ROC (April 3) and Wilmington, Delaware (May 1). Both those routes will be flown 2X-weekly. Avelo will additionally open service between MHT and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, from April 4, 2025.
