IRU’s delegation in Brussels moves closer to the European Institutions
Matthias Maedge, who leads IRU’s work in Europe, said, “This is a milestone for our delegation in Brussels and the organisation as a whole. We want to share clear messages in this challenging and exciting period and the Commission’s mobility package proposals are a real test for our industry. Our new office should be the place to discuss and define the future of road transport together with our members and partners.”
Speaking at the event last night, the European Commission and the upcoming Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU recognised IRU as a key partner in the dialogues on road transport policies and welcomed its move to a new, more strategically located home, to enhance collaboration.
The IRU Bus Excellence Award and City Trophy winners were among the special guests of the evening. Malta Public Transport and the city of Alba Iulia were presented with the IRU Smart Move awards for their efforts in making bus and coach transport a high quality service for passengers and tourists.
