OAO Yamal LNG has reached a milestone as it shipped two million tons of liquefied natural gas produced at its first LNG train.

Yamal LNG hit two million tons on the 27th cargo loaded and dispatched at the Sabetta seaport.

The first LNG train commenced LNG production in the fourth quarter of 2017 with the loading of the inaugural tanker on December 8, 2017. Since than, Arc7 ice class carriers, each holding 170 thousand cubic meters or around 74 thousand tons of LNG, have shipped over two million tons of LNG from the facility.

LNG deliveries under long-term contracts commenced in April 2018, with four LNG cargoes already shipped under such commitments.

Furthermore, in April, the first firing of compressor gas turbines was performed at the second LNG train comprising 5.5 million tons per annum, which represents one of the key milestones in the preparation of the train’s upcoming launch.

Yamal LNG is constructing a 16.5 mmtpa natural gas liquefaction plant utilizing the hydrocarbon resources of the South-Tambeyskoye field on the Yamal peninsula located in the Arctic territory of the Russian Federation.

Yamal LNG is owned and operated by a partnership comprised of Novatek, Total, CNPC and the Silk Road Fund. It aims to tap natural gas reserves totaling more than 4 billion barrels of oil equivalent (BOE).
