CHINA Railway Corporation’s (CRC) new fleet of CRH2E high-speed sleeper trains entered passenger service on the Beijing - Shanghai route on July 1.

The 412.8m-long 16-car EMUs, which accommodate up to 880 passengers, are initially only being used on one pair of services, which operate via the conventional network with a journey time of 11h 52min.

The 250km/h trains are being supplied by CRRC Qingdao Sifang Locomotive and Rolling Stock.
