United Wagon Co has won an international tender to supply Polish company Laude Smart Intermodal with 200 flat wagons for transporting heavyweight containers on the 1 520 mm gauge corridor between Russia and Poland. Deliveries are scheduled to be completed by the end of Q2 2019.
The Type 13-6851-01 wagons with a tare weight of 19·5 tonnes will be able to carry 20, 30 40 and 45 ft containers, with their 25 tonne axleload Type 18-9855 bogies, reinforced centre sills and stationary fitting twist locks providing a maximum loading capacity of 80 tonnes.
An improved design of bearing casting, spring equalising systems, and the use of wear-resistant materials is designed to offer high reliability, with maintenance intervals of eight years or 800 000 km and a service life of 40 years.
‘Our company is rapidly growing and moving forward with the aim of becoming the leading provider of logistics services in Central and Eastern Europe’, said Laude Smart Intermodal CEO Marcin Witzchak when the order was announced on August 7. ‘The UWC platform wagons fully conform to our high quality standards, and the production capabilities of our Russian partner allow to promptly build up the required scope of supply.’
