Direct High-Speed ICE Train Launches from Berlin to Paris

The ICE route simplifies travel between Berlin and Paris, which previously required at least one transfer. Operated jointly by DB and SNCF, the direct service now takes around 8 hours.
The service launched on 16 December, with a ceremonial departure at Berlin Central Station.
Trains will initially operate once per day in each direction, with plans to increase frequency in the coming years if demand grows.
Currently, the service departs Berlin Hauptbahnhof at 12.02 and arrives in Paris Est at 19.55, stopping at Frankfurt/Main Süd, Karlsruhe Hbf and Strasbourg. In the opposite direction, the train departs Paris at 9.55 and arrives in Berlin at 18.03.

The Class 407 ICE 3 has 444 seats, 111 of which are in first class. It reaches a top speed of 320 kilometres per hour on the French LGV Est high-speed line. The train also offers modern amenities, including onboard Wi-Fi, power outlets, and catering services.
Tickets are available from 59.99 EUR in 2nd class and 69.99 EUR in 1st class
This direct rail link provides an alternative to air travel, aligning with broader efforts to reduce carbon emissions. Its launch was announced earlier this year at InnoTrans 2024.
