Alstom Wins €144 Million Contract for Indian Sleeper Train Components

Alstom has been awarded a contract for the supply of Mitrac traction components and electrical equipment for a set of 17 Vande Bharat Sleeper trainsets (408 cars).

The components are set to be provided to the Indian Railways Integral Coach Factory (IFC) in Chennai.

The contract, worth 244 million EUR, will also see Alstom provide both preventive and corrective maintenance of the supplied equipment, alongside support services for a five-year period after the completion of warranty.

Works associated with the contract will be carried out across several railway depots in India, with the main execution set to be performed at Alstom’s Maneja site.

Prototype delivery is expected to commence before August 2026, with serial production due to begin in 2027 before the contract begins in 2029.
