UK: Network Rail Prepares for Goole Station Subway Pump Replacement

Network Rail’s replacement of a subway pump at Goole station is set to begin on Monday 17 February, with travellers advised that sections of the station will subsequently see partial closures.

The pump replacement project, which is worth 2.2 million GBP, will see Network Rail installing new equipment on both sides of Boothferry Road.

The work has become necessary due to issues with flooding at the station, and whilst Network Rail has stated the project will not completely resolve the problem, the works aim to both reduce disruption and allow for improved responses to any potential incidents.

Matt Shelton, Network Rail Route Engineer, said:

We’re aware that flooding at Goole subway has long been a concern for residents and rail passengers.

We recognise the importance of this issue and thank everyone who uses the subway or lives nearby for their patience and understanding while we carry out the improvements.

With an estimated completion date of July, the work will involve the temporary closure of each section of Goole Station to allow for regular pedestrian access to the station as well as shops.

Both platforms are expected to remain open throughout the project’s duration, which will see Network Rail carrying out work on weekdays between 7am and 5pm.
