Alstom has signed a contract to deliver 30 four-axle Traxx Universal multisystem electric trains for Slovenian freight transport operator SŽ – Tovorni Promet.

Alstom has signed a contract to deliver 30 four-axle Traxx Universal multisystem electric trains for Slovenian freight transport operator SŽ – Tovorni Promet.

The contract, which is worth roughly 150 million EUR, will see Alstom’s units utilised for freight operations throughout Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary, Croatia and Serbia.

Each Traxx Locomotive will be fitted with Onvia Cab signalling, Alstom’s onboard ERTMS system developed for both high efficiency and comprehensive safety and security whilst retaining total interoperability.

Frederique Kalb, Alstom Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe cluster, said:

Alstom’s state-of-the-art electric locomotives will significantly contribute to the country’s journey towards sustainable mobility. The new locomotives will boost freight operations in Slovenia thanks to their energy efficiency and good maintainability. This order reinforces Alstom’s presence in Central and Eastern Europe.

The Traxx series is built on a modular platform, with the locomotives’ design specifically configured for cross-border freight operations within Central and Eastern Europe.
