Belarus boosts Eurasian transport prospects with e-CMR decision

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko signs decree on the adoption of the digital consignment note, bolstering prospects of a Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) roadmap to establish a common market for road transport services across the region.

Alongside national benefits such as cost reductions and better data exchange, the upcoming adoption of e-CMR is the country’s first step towards entirely paperless transport operations.

The news follows Russia’s accession to the e-CMR protocol in 2018. Also an active EAEU member, Belarus will join Russia in streamlining national and regional transport and logistics operations to drive trade and improve competiveness on the international market.

IRU will support Belarus in its accession to e-CMR through its advisory services on training, pilot operations and industry adoption of the digital consignment note.
