IRU engages private sector game-changers in debate on innovation
IRU’s statutory meetings last week saw innovation once again top the agenda, with presentations outlining the critical role of digitising logistics, through services such as e-CMR and digital TIR, while the transition to autonomous vehicles sparked complex debate.
A forum of both transport councils looked at how innovation is reinventing the industry, and the challenges and opportunities ahead for road transport operators. Speakers included Uber’s Marius Macku, autonomous mobility and innovation specialist, Gonzalo Alcaraz from BestMile, and Javier Escribano from OnTruck.
Examining how the transport industry can learn from new business models and how transport businesses can help regulators react faster to changing market structures, the discussion highlighted the need to work together to take the industry into the future.
