According to the Farhad Mehryari, this achievement had improved due traffic culture and the growing preference among citizens for using public transportation. He highlighted the comprehensive measures undertaken by the RMTO to enhance safety and reduce road accidents and casualties.
Dr. Mehryari stressed that in addition to improving road safety and monitoring public passenger transport fleets, the national campaign "No to Accidents," centered around the message "Let’s drive fully attentive," was launched during the Nowruz travel period to promote safer driving practices.

*Comprehensive Monitoring and Enforcement*
During Nowruz, over 45,000 inspections of the public transport fleet were conducted, resulting in 4,000 violations being recorded. Mehryari noted that most violations were related to exceeding speed limits and neglecting essential safety measures. Legal action was taken against violators to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
The Director General also highlighted strict supervision of transport company technical managers, who are responsible for ensuring the safety of public passenger vehicles at terminals and prior to trips. Dr. Mehryari stated that these efforts were complemented by roadside inspections conducted at traffic police checkpoints, where non-compliance was addressed promptly.

*Focus on Vehicle Maintenance*
Dr. Mehryari also explained that the bus fleet was required to address technical deficiencies, such as issues with brakes, seat belts, and lighting systems, at heavy vehicle inspection centers. Technical inspection certificates were issued only after the necessary repairs were completed. These preventive measures, combined with broader oversight initiatives, have contributed significantly to reducing accidents in the public transport sector.

*Commitment to Passenger Safety*
RMTO also enforced strict regulations prohibiting transport companies from carrying excess passengers, with serious penalties for violations. Dr. Mehryari credited the combination of rigorous monitoring, enforcement, and public awareness campaigns for the notable improvement in safety outcomes.
In conclusion, Dr. Mehryari reiterated the importance of safe driving practices, including maintaining safe speeds, avoiding haste, refraining from driving while fatigued and consistently using seat belts. These measures, he noted, remain critical not only for public transport but also for private vehicle users in reducing road accidents and ensuring safer journeys for all.
