Dubai and Changi airports on the up in March

TiN news:  Dubai and Singapore airports both saw impressive cargo tonnage increases in March, providing further statistical evidence of a 2017 first quarter airfreight uptick.

Freight volumes at Dubai International (DXB) in the Middle East rose 3.5 % in the first quarter of 2017 to 636,479 tonnes.

This result was positively impacted by an 8.4% boost in cargo volumes in March, compared with the same period last year, to 235,503 tonnes.

Singapore Changi Airport in Asia recorded “robust growth” of 10.2% in March, compared with the same period last year, to reach 188,630 tonnes. 

For the first quarter of this year versus 2016, Changi Airport registered a cargo increase of 6.2%, totaling 494,180 tonnes.

Changi received a trophy in the Air Cargo News Cargo Airline of the Year awards, announced this week, winning the best airport, more than 1m tonnes category.
