Shiraz opens Line 1 metro extension

THE Iranian city of Shiraz opened an extension to Line 1 of the city’s metro on August 22 in the presence of Iran’s minister of state, Dr Rahmani Fazli.
The 10.5km extension runs southeast from Vali-e Asr to Shahid Dastgheyb. However, only two of the seven intermediate stations at Fazilat and Shahid Doran have been completed so far.
Construction of the first 11km section of Line 2 is underway. Line 2 will run southwest from an interchange with Line 1 at Emam Hossein Square to Shokufe.
