28% Increase in Intercity Public Transport Usage During Nowruz Celebrations
The Minister of Roads and Urban Development announced a 28% increase in intercity public transport usage during Nowruz trips compared to the same period last year. This statement was made during Her Excellency visit to IRAN Road Management Center.
Dr. Farzaneh Sadegh highlighted that the active road public transport fleet has expanded by 8% this Nowruz season relative to the previous year. However, he noted a nearly 5% decrease in trips since the launch of the Nowruz initiative, attributed to the overlap of Nowruz with the holy month of Ramadan, which led to a predictable decline in travel during the early days of the New Year.
Looking ahead, the Minister expressed optimism for increased travel among citizens in the coming days, projecting a 5% rise in trips compared to last year's Nowruz celebrations.
During her address, Minister Sadegh also stressed the importance of his visit to the Road Management Center, marking his first visit in the New Year. He took the opportunity to congratulate the staff and assess the monitoring capabilities of the center.
Detailing the RMTO-IRMC operations, which include round o'clock monitoring of IRAN's roads through a network of installed cameras. Minister Sadegh expressed hope for a significant reduction in accidents this Nowruz, aiming for a safe travel experience for all.
Additionally, the Minister underscored the implementation of a comprehensive information system designed to capture feedback and suggestions from road transport users, which will facilitate improvements in service quality for passengers.
