Minister of Roads and Urban Development Meets with Azerbaijani President to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation
H.E. Farzaneh Sadeq, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Head of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan, met with H.M. Ilham Aliyev, the honorable President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during her visit to Baku. As the Azerbaijani counterpart of this commission, President Aliyev welcomed the Iranian delegation to discuss avenues for enhanced collaboration.

The meeting focused on boosting bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation between the two nations.
Over the course of Her Excelency three-days visit, Minister Sadeq will review the progress of joint projects in key areas including transport and customs, water and energy, oil and gas and preferential trade. The agenda also includes extensive negotiations aimed at resolving any challenges to ongoing collaborations.
The visit features a field inspection of joint border projects by Minister Sadeq and her accompanying delegation. Additionally, the Persian and Azerbaijani versions of the Joint Economic Commission's Accord,, signed during the commission's last session in February 2024, will be unveiled.
Another highlight of the visit is the proposal to draft a new Memorandum on transpor collaboration and border affairs, aimed at boosting operational frameworks between the two countries.
The Joint Economic Commission resumed its activities in February 2024, after a three-year hiatus, with Tehran hosting the session. During the meeting, Minister Sadeq stressed the untapped potential for cooperation and set an ambitious goal to increase bilateral trade to 10 billion within five years.
